soft bell / hard bark attack

Postby uk_aw8s on Tue Nov 02, 2010 2:59 pm

hello from a wet and windy uk.

I am starting my very first refurb it is a 73 mark II stage.
I am wondering if you can tell me the best way to create the soft bell / hard bark attack action?.
I am purchasing some parts very soon and would greatly appreciate any useful hints and tips you may be able to share.

thanks
Andy.

One thing is for sure it's hard to get a soft bell tone out of hammer tips that are hard as a rock. My tonal response improved greatly when I replaced my hammer tips, A certain amount is just proper adjustment.
New grommets , damper felts etc will help your use the dynamic range that is there. Good Luck-Dluxmarron
