200 amplifier SMOKE

Postby mcsugarfree on Wed Feb 23, 2011 11:33 pm

I'm working on my first Wurli. It's a 200 I got at a junk shop. It was missing a power cable and TR 10 and possibly some other stuff. I found and installed a replacement transistor (TIP42B) and replaced the AC jack with an EIC one.

Now, when I turn it on the light comes on and it hums loudly but doesn't really make any sound, and after a few seconds the giant black resistor in front of TR 10 starts SMOKING (the "LECTROHM 800").

Oh crap. any suggestions?
